Vincennes Lincoln Hoops

The NFHS released several Basketball Rule Changes for the 2023-24 Season. We have attached the Summary of all Rule Changes. We do want to highlight a couple of these rule changes:

4-8-1: Eliminates the one-and-one for common fouls beginning with the seventh team foul in the half and establishes the bonus as two free throws awarded for a common foul beginning with the team’s fifth foul in each quarter and resets the fouls at the end of each quarter.

The “Team Fouls” on the Scoreboard should never exceed “5” as this triggers the double bonus in a given quarter.

7-5-2 thru 5: Establishes four throw-in spots (the nearest 28-feet mark along each sideline or the nearest spot 3-feet outside the lane line on the end line) when the ball is in team control in the offensive team’s frontcourt and the defensive team commits a violation, a common foul prior to the bonus, or the ball becomes dead.

Please welcome the newest member of our coaching staff and faculty here at Vincennes. Jantzen Goodwin, a 2012 graduate from Lincoln, returns to the program as an assistant coach and teacher. Coach Jantzen was a member of the 2012 sectional and conference championship team that played under Coach Jeff Hein.

After graduation, Coach Goodwin played for Vincennes University and then went on to to play for NAIA’s Indiana Tech University in Fort Wayne. Indiana where Goodwin was a 2017 graduate.

Coach Goodwin coached the Indy Spiece Gym Rats 10th grade team in 2016. He also assisted the legendary Jerry Hoover at his D-One camps in Fort Wayne during his tenure in Fort Wayne.

After graduating, Coach Goodwin was the graduate assistant coach at Indiana Tech from 2017-2019 and the got some great experience running basketball camps, clinics, classes, and tournaments for United States Basketball Academy in Zhuhai, China from 2019-2020

Coach Goodwin has a 1-year-old son named Omari Goodwin who I expect to be a candidate for Mr. Basketball in 2041.

Please welcome Jantzen home as we continue to attempt to rebuild this once very proud program. I personally believe he’s is a perfect fit for the program.

Clinic four on Thursday night wrapped up the week with 4th nd 5th grade hoopsters. Franklin boasted a boatload of players who show great potential. We worked with 70 kids during the week. Thank you to the coaches who assisted me, your help was vital to the success of the program. I look forward to seeing these guys develop throughout their careers.

Boys at Riley worked hard on Wednesday night. Not only were the boys very excited about the opportunity, they also showed a great deal of promise. It was a fun evening.

Tuesday afternoon was spent with a bunch of really good young men from Tecumseh. They worked very hard and look ready to battle for a title this year. Good luck Eagles!
