It’s hard to believe that anther Senior Night is upon us. This is my 32nd Senior Night as varsity basketball coach. Senior Nights are always bittersweet. It’s great to honor your seniors, but it’s sad to see an end to this chapter of their lives. This year’s seniors are top notch, and I am very thankful for their participation in the program.

Darius Hill ends his career averaging 5.1 points per game, which is 5th on the team. Darius shoots 59% from the field (49 of 83) and 15 of 26 (58%) from the freethrow line. ,He’s grabbed 76 rebounds (which ties Gus for second on the team), and he’s doled out 15 assists. Darius is a hard worked and an incredibly kind young man. He’s been our 6th man most of the season, and he contributes an a nightly basis. Darius plans to go to college to play football, and I look forward to seeing him at the next level. .

Raydon Benson is a four-year member of the basketball team and letters for the 2nd time. Rayden has been the cornerstone of our post play this season. He’s shooting 73-149 from 2 (55%), and he’s a perfect 1 for 1 from three. Raydon is our second leading scorer at 8.8 points per game and he’s tied for 4th in rebounding with 75, but he’s only one behind two guys tied for 2nd. Raydon is likely headed for a baseball career in college, and he should be expecting a great senior baseball season.

The team leader and hardest worker on this year’s team is Gus McCrary. Gus is a 6’7" sharpshooter who scores 7.6 points per game. Gus is currently tied with Darius as the second leading rebounder 29th 76, but he leads the team in assists with 65. Gus has played a sort of “point forward” for the Alices. Simply put, when he plays well, we play well. Gus is an outstanding kid who wants to play basketball in college, but he also has the opportunity to play tennis. Regardless, he’s much appreciated by me and the whole coaching staff.

Thank you to all seniors, their parents, and family members. You will always be considered to be part of our program.
